Mizaan Law Association Launch Event

11 April 2026 marked the beginning of Mizaan Law Association (‘Mizaan Law’).

Mizaan Law officially launched on a bright, sunlit morning by the water in Rhodes, the perfect setting for a new organisation influenced by the next generation of legal professionals. We welcomed a diverse mix of esteemed guests, including barristers, principal solicitors, lawyers, law students, and representatives from Islamic organisations. We were honoured by their presence and grateful for their shared excitement and curiosity for our inaugural launch. Our guests gathered over a busy coffee cart and a generous Middle Eastern spread, made possible through the support of Human Appeal Australia.

Opening addresses were made by our founders, followed by a moving speech by Omar Jamal, a representative from the event’s sponsor, Human Appeal Australia. Omar spoke to the importance of establishing and carrying an Islamic identity within the profession, and the role organisations like Mizaan play in supporting that presence with purpose and integrity. Our President, Rawan Khalil, spoke to the centrality of intention, emphasising that making an impact begins with sincerity and a commitment to excellence in both faith and profession. She reminded the room that “Muslims in law should prosper without feeling like a part of their identity needs to be sacrificed for success,” a statement that captured the need for a space like Mizaan. Vice President, Aminah Elmasri, reminded guests that “the most beloved to Allah are those who bring the most benefit to others.” Together, their words captured the direction of Mizaan, as a space that builds access, supports one another, and carries both faith and profession with equal weight, as reflected in our name. At the heart of our mission, we reinforce Allah SWT’s call to serve our ummah and to serve beyond oneself.

The event encompassed community in all its forms and balance between faith and profession . The adhaan was called and jama’ah prayer was held, and guests thoughtfully engaged with one another throughout the event, with students speaking to established lawyers and community representatives contributing to those exchanges in equal measure.

With the hard work and dedication of our team and a strong turnout, the launch was nothing short of a success, setting the standard we intend to maintain at Mizaan Law. A space for community. For faith. For profession.
